Meet the In-House Processing team

Name: Gemma Vallance

Location: Alfreton

Qualifications: A-levels in Maths, PE, Business studies, and Sociology & NVQ level 3 in business administration

BHCC History: Gemma joined the BH team in April 2016.

Background in administration and accounts led Gemma into the role of High Cost case co-ordinator/Processing supervisor, getting cases smoothly through the LAA/CCMS system and dealing with any queries and  deadlines as they arise.

Profile: Gemma loves playing netball, spending time with her sons Max and Ben, and watching them play football at the weekends.

Claim to fame: Gemma held the record for the girls longest discus throw all through secondary school and threw for Derbyshire.

Favourite film: Champ but Dirty Dancing is a close second

Name: Rio Powell

Location: Blackwell, Alfreton

Qualifications: GCSE’S, Level 3 National Diploma in Computer Science, Level 3 in IT: Script and App Programming

BHCC History: Rio joined Bidwell Henderson in August 2023.

Profile: Rio’s favourite hobby is reading and collecting special covers of Stephen King books. He has published a short story and he likes to game with friends.

Something we wouldn’t know about you: Rio is a big fan of 60’s to 80’s music.

Favourite TV Show: Rio’s favourite film series is The Purge.

Name: Laura Shepherd

Location: Alfreton

Qualifications: BA hons in Philosophy, A Levels and GSCE’s

BHCC History: Laura joined the Processing team in November 2023

Profile: Laura has a varied work background in sales, customer service and worked as a forecaster / planner in the outdoor industry. Laura has two sons. She enjoys walking and getting outdoors with her family.

Something we wouldn’t know about you: Laura has an obsession with the poet Byron and used to work as a guide at Newstead Abbey, Byron’s ancestral home.

Favourite TV Show: Thrillers, Mysteries, True Crime.

Name: Tara Dakin

Location: Alfreton

BHCC History: Tara joined Bidwell Henderson as a Processing Assistant in February 2024, whilst completing a Business Administration Apprenticeship.

Profile: Tara enjoys reading and spending quality time with friends and family. She also likes running and new adventures.

Something we wouldn’t know about you: Tara has a black belt in karate.

Favourite TV Show: Favourite film is Hippopotamus / psychological thriller.
