Name: Gemma Vallance

Location: Alfreton

Qualifications: A-levels in Maths, PE, Business studies, and Sociology & NVQ level 3 in business administration

BHCC History: Gemma joined the BH team in April 2016.

Background in administration and accounts led Gemma into the role of High Cost case co-ordinator/Processing supervisor, getting cases smoothly through the LAA/CCMS system and dealing with any queries and  deadlines as they arise.

Profile: Gemma loves playing netball, spending time with her sons Max and Ben, and watching them play football at the weekends.

Claim to fame: Gemma held the record for the girls longest discus throw all through secondary school and threw for Derbyshire.

Favourite film: Champ but Dirty Dancing is a close second

Name: Sarah Hill

Location: Head Office

Qualifications: GCSEs, A Levels and a Level 3 in Business Administration.

BHCC History: Sarah Hill joined the Bidwell Henderson Team in September 2020.

At Bidwell Henderson Sarah started as a Business Administrative Apprentice, fulfilling roles such as file management, assigning files to Consultants and answering and transferring calls, helping run a busy office environment. She swiftly progressed to the processing department working, before joining our bespoke award-winning Trainee Law Costs Draftsperson Programme in May 2022.

Profile: From as long as Sarah can remember she’s taken a great interest in Dance and Acting. Performing has always been a key hobby and passion of Sarah’s from a young age. She’s performed all over the country including stages in Tamworth, Leicester and London. At her dance school she also worked as a Dance teacher from 2016 to 2019, acting as a role model for differing age groups. From her performing arts journey she’s gained so many valuable skills and lifelong friends!

Before joining Bidwell Henderson, Sarah was employed as a customer advisor for nearly 2 years. She loved working there due to the supportive, friendly staff and the differing daily experiences she would encounter. The job provided her with lots of valuable skills such as providing exceptional customer service, which is very important in her role at Bidwell Henderson now.

Favourite TV and Movie genre: Sarah absolutely loves comedy films.

Claim to Fame: Sarah performed at a West End theatre in London in November 2017, a mesmerising experience she will forever treasure.

Name: Celine Heathcote

Location: Sheffield

Qualifications: AS Level – English & Art

Costs Drafting History: Celine Heathcote began her costing career as a trainee with Bidwell Henderson in March 2021.

BHCC History: Celine has worked as a processing administrator assisting for the past year with LAA Assessed Claims, Court Assessed Bills and High Cost Case. She has now began her training contract with Bidwell Henderson in March 2021 as a Trainee Costs Draftsperson.

Name: Rio Powell

Location: Blackwell, Alfreton

Qualifications: GCSE’S, Level 3 National Diploma in Computer Science, Level 3 in IT: Script and App Programming

BHCC History: Rio joined Bidwell Henderson in August 2023.

Profile: Rio’s big hobby is reading and collecting special covers of books, mostly Stephen King books. His is currently in the progress of writing his own book and he likes to game with friends.

Something we wouldn’t know about you: Rio is a big fan of older music, anything 60’s to 80’s.

Favourite TV Show: Rio likes horrors and thrillers, like The Purge, but he also love comedies and sitcoms.

Name: Laura Shepherd

Location: Alfreton

Qualifications: BA hons in Philosophy, A Levels and GSCE’s

BHCC History: Laura joined the Processing team in November 2023

Profile: Laura has a varied work background in sales, customer service and worked as a forecaster / planner in the outdoor industry. Laura has two sons. She enjoys walking and getting outdoors with her family.

Something we wouldn’t know about you: Laura has an obsession with the poet Byron and used to work as a guide at Newstead Abbey, Byron’s ancestral home.

Favourite TV Show: Thrillers, Mysteries, True Crime.

Name: Chandler Edlin

Location: South Normanton

Qualifications: A Level – English Literature, History, German

BHCC History: Chandler joined Bidwell Henderson in July 2021. He joined the Trainee Costs Draftsperson Course in January 2024.

Profile: Chandler was previously employed as a care worker in Nottingham and lives with his mum, two sisters, his partner, and their Blue Staffordshire puppy named Rufus. He enjoys travelling and exploring the outdoors.

Something we wouldn’t know about you: He has recently bought an SWB van, and is in the process of converting it into an off-grid micro-camper.

Favourite film: Chandler likes horror and psychological thrillers, his favourite film is Snatch and his favourite TV show is Lucifer.

Name: Tara Dakin

Location: Alfreton

BHCC History: Tara joined Bidwell Henderson as a Processing Assistant in February 2024, whilst completing a Business Administration Apprenticeship.

Profile: Tara enjoys reading and spending quality time with friends and family. She also likes running and new adventures.

Something we wouldn’t know about you: Tara has a black belt in karate.

Favourite TV Show: Favourite film is Hippopotamus / psychological thriller.
